A quick review of Shoemoney's "Free SEO Report".
I've been a big Shoemoney follower for a long time, but when I read about his latest adventure I was suprised because I had already used the service - Free SEO Report, without knowing that he was behind it.
Here is a quick review:
The report contains some good basic information. You get information like:
- Url PageRank
- Yahoo Linkdomain
- Yahoo Links
- Alexa
- Domain Age
- Title Tag Breakdown
- Headings
- Text Count (densities)
- URL Breakdown
- Sitemap Info
- Description Meta Tag Breakdown
- Link Breakdown
- Size/load Time Breakdown
- Images with Alt Text Breakdown
- Keyword Suggestions
Some of the cooler features are from the backend where you can "skin" the report for your own clients.
Now, while this has some good basic information there are some things that seem to be lacking (and I know you are listening Jeremy):
- Pages indexed by Google (general count using the site: opperator)
- Pages indexed by Bing (seeing as Yahoo is transferring to Bing's services)
- Local Google Listing - this is a big item for better local competition
- I'd use mozRank instead/along side of PR because of how infrequently Google updates
- Bold/Strong & Italics/Emphasis usage
So while this is a nice little "quick report", I can see that it has a lot of potential to grow. If Shoemoney is pursuing this, then I know he'll make it work.

PageRank is probably one of the most important algorithms ever developed for the Web.
PageRank is not simply based upon the total number of inbound links.
The basic approach of PageRank is that a document is in fact considered the more important the more other documents link to it,
but those inbound links do not count equally.
good points here about Trust now being a major factor in search engine results,
that goes with what Rand and others have been saying too.
this also settles for me the value of a natural approach to gaining backlinks and not getting a huge bunch of them,
or a large of high pr backlinks in a short period of time - it rather undermines the Trust factor.
I do wonder what you think of bing and how Trust does/will play a role in their results.
it seems to me from a rather preliminary and cursory look at some results and comparing those to over at google and yahoo,
that bing ofter relies more on the keyword/s being the actual url,
which seems to me a rather poor way to rank sites/pages.
