2005 Website Browser Stats Review

I have gathered together some statistics from multiple sites that I oversee for 2005. These are total percentages for the entire year of 2005 for websites in multiple categories. For example, site 2 is an e-commerce site, site 6 is a tutorial site for Macromedia Flash, and site 4 is a western site about saddles. You can see that the numbers vary considerably especially in relation to Firefox and IE 6.

When compared to numbers gathered for 2004, it looks as though Firefox is still picking up speed and gaining more support especially from the "techy" sector. I hate to say that "Nerds" rule the Internet, but if they are the early adopters and they are the ones fixing people's computers, don't you think they will have a pretty big say as to what browser people use?

Furthermore, although this is old news, Dell (in the UK) is shipping computers prebundled with Firefox. This might just be a trial run before attempting the same thing here in the United States which means that this upcoming year could really increase the number of people using Firefox.

Either way, it should be interesting to see Microsoft and the standards compliant Firefox go head to head in the coming months.
