Never Miss an Opportunity to Sell

One of the biggest mistakes that companies make is failing to recognize and act on opportunities to sell. Isn't selling one of the main goals of the organization? So why do people shy away from the opportunities that are placed before them all the time? Here are just a few places that are commonly missed opportunities to sell.

Do you know that one of the most frequently viewed pages on the web is the 404 - Page not found error page? Have you added your own custom 404 page for when a customer stumbles on a broken link? How do you normally feel when you get a 404 page not found error? What if you could make the most of a bad experience? Offer a coupon for your product in exchange for reporting the broken link.

Opportunities to sell are everywhere. How often are you asked what you do for a living? What if you created a 30 second response to that question? Then when you were done ask them if they need your services. If they don't, ask them if they have a friend that might need your services.

After someone has bought something from your site what page do they see? Is it a typical "thank you for your purchase" page? They've got their wallet out and are spending money. Why not ask them if they want to add something to their order. For example, "Thank you for your order. Right now we have a (related product) on sale for $$$.$$. You can qualify for FREE shipping on this product if you add it to your order now."
