Whether you are trying to get rid of Spam or just want more control over your email client, Thunderbird is the ideal answer. My favorite feature is the ability to spellcheck every email before it leaves.

With features like POP3/IMAP support, extension support, and a built in news reader, Thunderbird has a great opportunity to take a good market share away from Microsoft's Outlook. With the twins, Thunderbird and Sunbird, you can have most of the functionality of Outlook for FREE. Now when you are looking at updating an entire office, this can be quite the money savings.
